The origins of the Royal International Air Tattoo stretch back to an airshow first held at North Weald Airfield in 1971. Inspired by two air traffic controllers, Paul Bowen and Tim Prince, this modest event, organised wholly by volunteers, was originally held in support of the Royal Air Forces Association.
Over the years this volunteer force has grown into an army, more than 3,500-strong, who bring with them a wealth of aviation and event-management experience that has helped the Air Tattoo grow into the enormous event it is today.
The Air Tattoo, one of the UK’s premier outdoor events, returns next summer on 13-15 July and will be marking a very special occasion in 2018, the centenary of the Royal Air Force. As well as commemorating the past achievements, The Air Tattoo will also be celebrating the present and helping to inspire the future of the RAF. In 2017, the event attracted over 160,000 visitors, 6,000 corporate guests and over 1,500 international military personnel, representing 32 countries.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see the companies that supply to the military aviation operation and view the top military aircraft’s and suppliers in the market.
Powervamp is proud to support the airshow by proving our advanced power solutions to the static aircraft display. Look forward to seeing you at the event.
